Become a Part of the South Carolina Digital Library!
If you are a library, archive, museum, or cultural heritage institution and would like to have your unique collections made available online, searchable with other collections from across the state for all the world to see, please continue reading!
The South Carolina Digital Library has implemented four Regional Scanning Centers—in the Upstate, Midlands, Low Country, and Pee Dee—to assist institutions like yours that want to contribute their collections to the SCDL database. Potential contributors may seek digitization assistance from one of the regional centers: Clemson University, University of South Carolina, College of Charleston, or Coastal Carolina University.
Assistance at the regional centers includes project planning, scanning, metadata creation, loading to the database, and anything in between!
If you have an idea for a digital collection, please review our Collection Policy and the getting started guide to get a better idea of what will be expected throughout the course of a project. Do not hesitate to contact us with questions while you consider participating. If you decide to contribute, fill out and submit a Project Proposal form, available below. All submissions will be considered. At SCDL, we consider each project to be unique, and will manage it as such.
All the documents that you will need to contribute are available below. Please send your questions or comments to your Regional Scanning Center contact or to Christopher Vinson. You should hear something from us within a few weeks of the submission. If you don’t hear anything, please call 803-777-0735.
Again, do not hesistate to contact us! You can be a part of our growing database and have your collections searched and browsed in new and interesting ways. Hope to hear from you soon!
